Initiatives
CPS has deployed a more localized strategy to Back to School events by coordinating a Back to School Bash for each one of our Networks. These events have allowed parents to gain deeper connections with their city, our district, and community based resources that will help prepare our students for the first day of school.

Simultaneously, our Phone Bank Campaign efforts have created an opportunity for CPS staff and parent volunteers to connect with families to remind them of the first day of school and to provide additional support services.

Dyett Innovation Hub The Dyett Innovation Hub, within Walter H. Dyett High School for the Arts, provides services to the community including a YOUmedia lab, makerspace, recording room and laptop-enabled classroom.

The Parent Leadership Institute (PLI) is a rigorous eight-week parent leadership development program that exposes participants to research-based standards linking family and community engagement to school success.

The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) / Parent Leadership Network (PLN) Collaborative meeting is a parent engagement initiative grounded in partnership-building that ensures the learning and leadership experience of parents is relational, developmental, collaborative, and linked to learning.

College Week College Week: The Experience Scholarship allows teachers and students at selected schools to create their very own College Week experience. The purpose of College Week is to let our children, parents, and community know the benefits of higher education. More importantly, College Week helps to promote to all stakeholders, that attending college can be one’s reality.

Code 60 Code60+ builds on the national Hour of Code movement. Moving to the next level, this month-long challenge is designed to bring Computer Science Education to life across our district.

STEMVILLE STEMVILLE is an exciting opportunity to learn, build and be inspired by robotics. Participants learn fundamental engineering principles to build a robot. This learning experience culminates in a robotics competition where teams compete against each other. STEMVILLE reaches those who would otherwise not have a similar opportunity.
